Bangladesh National Scientific and Technical Documentation Centre (BANSDOC) is the national apex body in the field of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) based scientific & technological information and documentation services of the country. This organization provides up-to-date information to the scientists, researchers, technologists, industrialists, planners, policy-makers and relevant people for socio-economic development of the country. It has acquired the status of autonomous body by the BANSDOC Act’ 2010. Establishment Information:
- In 1957 it was named Pakistan National Scientific and Technical Documentation Centre (PANSDOC) in Pakistan.
- In 1963 it came in Dhaka and known as Pakistan National Scientific and Technical Documentation Centre (PANSDOC).
- The restructured BANSDOC was deployed as a standalone national institution under the Ministry of Science and Technology IN 1987.
- Then on March 18,2010,Bangladesh National Scientific and Technical Documentation Center (BANSDOC) was established as an autonomous body through the enactment of law.
Objectives of BANSDOC:
- To collect, process, preserve, edit and disseminate information in all fields of scientific research.
- To provide information as per needs of researchers working in research.
- To ensure acknowledged information for researcher, policy maker, planner and manager.
- Encourage researchers and scientists of the country to associate other people working in the same field of interest both home and abroad.
- To publish materials on scientific information related issues.
- To arrange training program on information science.

Vision :
Rapid dissemination of scientific information and documentation to the Scientist and Researcher.
Mission:
Provide on-line databases of scientific information, off-line services to the user and digitization of BANSDOC activities.
Functions of BANSDOC:
- To collect, process, preserve, edit and disseminate information in all fields of scientific research and experimental development in the area of natural science, agriculture, medical science, engineering, industry and technology.
- To provide information as per needs of researchers working in research organizations, academic institutions, nationalized industries or any other sectors.
- To ensure acknowledged information for researcher, policy maker, planner and manager.
- Encourage researchers and scientists of the country to associate other people working in the same field of interest both home and abroad.
- To publish materials on scientific information related issues.
